What's 'Genuine'?

Genuine mineral water is defined by it’s underground source which has been confirmed to have stability, purity and of course a mineral salt content.

On Sophia Farm, we are blessed with incredible quality water from our mountain source. Our water gets its taste from the mineral-rich composition of our pristine mountain home.

The minerals in Tessies Water are naturally occurring. Apart from thorough UV sterilisation (and the addition of CO2 to our Sparkling water), Tessies Genuine Mineral Water has not undergone any form of treatment or alteration. It is collected and bottled at the source ensuring it’s microbiological purity and chemical composition.

When considering the water you drink - think about the processes the water undergoes in order to achieve it's potability and mineral content. Even the most popular South African brands are far from 'natural'.

We invite you to taste the difference between water, and Tessies Genuine Mineral Water.

Our water has a TDS of 345mg/l, well above the minimum global requirement to be classified as a Mineral Water.

To be classified as a mineral water a minimum of 250mg/l TDS is required.

A low TDS generally results in the water being insipid and tasteless. A high TDS, on the other hand, will result in water with a very distinctive taste.

In addition, mineral water is distinguished from other types of bottled water by its constant level and relative proportions of minerals and trace elements at the point of emergence from the source (i.e. no minerals can be added).
